In the rain-interrupted Super 8 (Group
1) match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Australia thrashed Bangladesh in
Antigua. During that game, Australian star pacer Pat Cummins recorded a
hat-trick.
It was their first Super 8 match in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, as both teams were looking for a victory. After Australia chose to field first, they restricted Bangladesh to 140/8 in 20 overs. In reply, Australia scored 100/2 in 11.2 overs before the second rain interruption of that innings. In the end, Australia won the match by 28 runs (DLS method).

During the first innings of the
match, Australian right-arm fast bowler Pat Cummins took a hat-trick. It was the
first hat-trick in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. After he dismissed
Mahmudullah (2) and Mahedi Hasan (0) in the final two balls of the 18th over of
the innings, Cummins took the wicket of Towhid Hridoy (40) to complete his first
international hat-trick on the first ball of the 20th over. Cummins ended that
innings with bowling figures of 4-0-29-3.
