For the 20-team ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, there was one spot available from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier 2023. PNG, who made their Men’s T20 World Cup debut in the 2021 edition, are ready to experience their second T20 World Cup tournament in the next edition (2024) in the West Indies and the United States.

In the ICC Men's T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier 2023, where four participating teams have been scheduled to face each other twice, hosts Papua New Guinea won all their first five games to secure their place for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
PNG started this tournament with a nine-wicket win against Vanuatu. Later, they beat the Philippines and Japan by 117 runs and six wickets, respectively. In their second meeting in this tournament, PNG once again beat Vanuatu by 39 runs.
On Friday (28 July), PNG booked their tickets for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 after thrashing the Philippines by 100 runs. At the end of that game, they have earned ten points in five matches.
On the last day of the tournament (29 July), PNG will face the second-positioned side of this competition, Japan (six points in five games). However, this upcoming match can’t affect the fate of this Qualifier title, which is also a ticket for the next men’s T20 World Cup.
