This is a name that a lot of Indian sports fans must have heard of but as the wife of Dinesh Karthik and that is a sad story because her achievements dare I say surpass any of the achievements of Dinesh Karthik. Dipika Pallikal Karthik is one of the most decorated squash players India has ever seen and her collection of achievements merits an article about her because she is also a serious medal hope for India in squash. I am a big fan of her attacking way of playing swagath where she tries to dominate the matches and wins most of them.

Dipika Pallikal has a great history at the Commonwealth Games as well and she has been playing squash for years and all Indian fans will be hoping that she wins a number of medals at the upcoming games as well. She also took a break from squash to focus on her family but now she is back and raring to go and we will talk about her Profile Career and Achievements below.

Profile

The full name of Dipika Pallikal Karthik is Dipika Rebecca Pallikal Karthik and she was born on 21st September 1991 in Kerala India and from a young age she was into squash and initially she faces some resistance but seeing the talent in her her parents decided to give her proper training and since then she had made everyone proud. She is 5 ft 7 inches tall which gives her an advantage of moving fast and getting to the ball more than her opponents and keeping the squash ball in play. She turned pro in 2006 so it’s been 16 years at the top and she is still going strong. She uses a Technifibre squash racket while playing.

Career

She started her career in 2006 but the first 5 years were difficult for her but in 2011 the tide started turning her way as she won 3 WSPA titles in 2011 and from there it was no stopping her from going to the top of the world. In 2012 she reached the summit clash of the of a silver event becoming the first Indian to do so. The year 2014 onwards she started winning Medals for India and she has won medals at almost all the major squash competitions in the world about which we will talk about below. Even after 16 years of playing squash she is looking fit and is only 31 so a good 4-5 years are still left in her and she will be looking to win Medals till the time she retires.
