Having a brand ambassador can help any company to promote itself and its products to a wider demographic. When celebrities endorse brands, they typically bring their own fan base with them, increasing the reach and introducing the products and services to new audiences. The gambling industry is highly competitive, with many thousands of online casinos and sportsbooks to choose from. Having a brand ambassador can help these companies stand out from the crowd. The close relation of gambling and sports means that sporting personalities are often the top choice as brand ambassadors for iGaming and other forms of online gambling.

Shane Warne: Dafabet:

Shane Warne, former Australian cricket captain and current cricket commentator, signed a five-year deal in 2019 to become the face of Dafabet, a well-known sportsbook and online casino. Dafabet offers customers a huge array of markets and betting options across most popular sports, including tennis, basketball, football and cricket. The brand is known for offering one of the best selections of in-depth cricket products. Shane Warne has a huge international profile and is world-renowned for his exploits on the cricket pitch, making him an ideal brand ambassador.

Cristiano Ronaldo: PokerStars:

World famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo signed up as a brand ambassador for PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker brand, in 2015. The deal included personal appearances from Ronaldo at online poker tournaments and live events, with a focus on promoting the brand to Asian audiences. In 2017, PokerStars abruptly cancelled all celebrity sports ambassadors and chose to focus instead on attracting new customers through in-site offers.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Bethard:

Zlatan Ibrahimovic became not only a brand ambassador for Bethard in 2018, but also a co-owner of the company. Star of Manchester United, LA Galaxy and Sweden, Ibrahimovic was drawn to the deal with Bethard due to the brand’s Swedish roots and compatible values, so signed on to help push the expansion of the brand throughout Europe, with the goal of securing licenses in several key European markets by 2020.

Conor McGregor: PariMatch:

Mixed martial artist Conor McGregor has previously acted as brand ambassador for Betsafe, the UK bookmaker arm of Betsson. In 2019, he signed a new deal with PariMatch to represent their brand across Cyprus and the CIS region. The two-year endorsement deal will see McGregor acting as the public face of the brand. McGregor chose to partner with PariMatch because of the “fighting spirit” of the brand, which recently partnered with UFC.

Mike Tyson: Inspired Gaming:

The legendary boxer Mike Tyson has acted as a brand ambassador to many gambling brands over the years, including a recent signing to PariMatch alongside Conor McGregor. Tyson signed a 15-year deal in 2015 with iGaming software brand Inspired Gaming, for the exclusive licensing of Mike Tyson in their casino game products.

The confidence and sense of success that sports stars carry naturally makes them appealing as brand ambassadors for gambling companies, who want their customers to feel that same sense of overarching possibility.
