People say age is a barrier in sports but for Legends like Roger Federer age is just a number. This 36 year old Legend returns to ATP world No. 1. He becomes the oldest man to top the world rankings, surpassing Andre Agassi, who held the record at age 33.
“What an amazing run and it's been and a journey it's been for me to clinch the world No .1,” said Federer.
Beating leading Dutch player Robin Haase 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals at the ABN AMRO World Tournament means Federer becomes the oldest player male or female to top the world rankings.
After winning that match and creating history Federer said -“Getting to No. 1 and enjoying it right here at 36, almost 37 years old is an absolute dream come true”. He also added "This one, because I'm a little bit older, is a little bit more special maybe, because there's just so much that has to go into it, so much has to be right for it to work out, and it did so. It's a very deep satisfaction".
Roger Federer became the winner of the 45th edition of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. The best tennis player of all times beat the number five of the world Grigor Dimitrov in a sold out Rotterdam Ahoy with twice 6-2.
