Annu Rani Early life
Annu Rani was born on 29th August 1992. She hails from Bahadurpur village in Uttar Pradesh. Her father was a farmer. Her initial javelin throw experience came from throwing sugarcane sticks. Later, she shifted to the bamboo sticks.

Medals in the Asian Athletics Championships
Annu has recorded eight national championships. In the Asian Athletics Championships in 2017 and 2019, she claimed the bronze and silver medals, respectively. She finished in eighth and seventh place in the World Athletics Championships in 2019 and 2022, respectively.

After finishing in eighth place in the Commonwealth Games 2014, Annu scripted history in the Commonwealth Games 2022 by winning a bronze medal, as she became the first Indian woman javelin thrower to win a CWG medal.

After winning a bronze medal in the Asian Games 2014 and finishing in sixth place in the Asian Games 2018, Annu won a gold medal in the Asian Games 2022. She became the first Indian javelin thrower to win a gold medal in the women’s javelin throw event in Asian Games history.

Annu holds the national record in the women’s javelin throw event with her 63.82 m throw, which she achieved to rewrite a new national record at the Indian Open Javelin Throw Competition 2022.
