Parul Chaudhary Early life

Parul Chaudhary was born on 15th April 1995. She is from Iklauta Village near Meerut. In 2011, she started the 800m race. Later, Parul competed in the 1500m and 3000m events before taking the 5000m event. In 2015, Parul secured a job at the Western Railways.


Parul Chaudhary Achievements

First Indian woman to complete the 3000m in sub-9 minute time

During the Sound Running Sunset Tour 1 in 2022 in Los Angeles, Parul became the first Indian to complete the women's 3000m in sub-9 minute time, securing a new national record (8:57.19).

Asian Athletics Championships medals

In the Asian Athletics Championships, Parul won one gold (women’s 3000m steeplechase) and one silver (women’s 5000m) in 2023 after securing a women’s 5000m bronze in 2019.

The six-time national champion Parul won the gold medal in the women’s 5000m event at the Asian Games 2022. In the same competition, she also won the silver medal in the women’s 3000m steeplechase event.

Three national records

Parul holds national records in three different events: women’s 3000m, women’s 5000m, and women’s 3000m steeplechase.

How did Parul Chaudhary qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics?

During the World Athletics Championships 2023, the 11th-placed Parul Chaudhary set up a national record in the women’s 3000 steeplechase finals (9:15.31) as she comfortably breached the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifying standard mark (9:23.00).

Meanwhile, Parul has also qualified for the women’s 5000m event at the Paris 2024 Olympics through the World Athletics Rankings.

Parul Chaudhary will participate in two events at the Paris 2024 Olympics. These events will be the women's 3000m steeplechase and the women's 5000m.
