75kg boxing event with her great performance at the Asian Games 2022.

Lovlina Borgohain confirmed the
national quota for the Paris 2024 Olympics after winning the Asian Games 2022
semi-final against Thailand’s Baison Maneekon by unanimous decision (by 5-0) in
the women’s 75kg boxing event.
Earlier, Lovlina beat the South
Korean Seong Su-yeon in the quarterfinal.
In the Final, Lovlina faced Li
Qian of China. However, Li Qian defeated Lovlina in the Final by a unanimous
decision (by 5-0) to seal the gold medal. Meanwhile, Lovlina ended her Asian
Games 2022 journey with a silver medal.
Several boxing events at the
Asian Games 2022, organised in September–October 2023 at Hangzhou Gymnasium,
Hangzhou, China, were part of the Paris 2024 Olympics qualification. Although
boxers could secure their respective national quotas for the forthcoming Summer
Olympics, the National Olympic Committees (NOC) have complete authority over
the selection of the national representatives for the upcoming Summer Olympics.
Who is Lovlina Borgohain?
In the Tokyo 2020 Olympics,
Lovlina Borgohain became the third Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal (after
Vijender Singh's bronze medal at men’s 75kg in 2008 and Mary Kom's bronze medal
at women’s 51 kg in 2012) after securing a bronze medal.
Lovlina won one gold medal each
in the Asian Championships 2022 and the World Championships 2023. Earlier, she
won two more bronze medals in each of these reputed Championships.
Lovlina was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2020 and the Khel Ratna Award in 2021.
