By winning a silver medal at the Asian Continental Qualifier Tournament 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand, Dhiraj Bommadevara secured India’s first quota in archery for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
After his perfect performance before the Final of the men’s recurve event at the Asian Continental Qualifier Tournament 2023 in November, Dhiraj Bommadevara lost the gold medal match against Chinese Taipei’s Lin Zih-Siang (5-6) via shootoff.
Previously, at the Asian Continental Qualifier
Tournament 2023, Bommadevara beat Ezizmuhammet Sahedov, Li Yue Long, Sadegh
Ashrafi Bavili, and Mohammadhossein Golshani Asl all by 6-0 to reach the Final.
Dhiraj Bommadevara secured India’s first archery quota for the Paris 2024 Olympics
Although Bommadevara closely missed out on the
gold medal, the silver medalist secured India’s quota in the men’s recurve
event for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Earlier, he was a part of the silver
medalist Indian men’s recurve team at the Asian Games 2023.
Coming back to the Paris 2024 Olympics
participation, the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) have the exclusive
authority to make the final decision on the national representatives for the
Paris 2024 Olympics.
