Satyarup Siddhanta has made it again to headlines by creating a new record of being youngest Indian to climb 7 volcanoes, 7 highest peaks in 7 continents in 7 years. This 35 years old Mountaineer/ Engineer was born in Kolkata and is now based in Bengaluru. Apart from this, he has several achievements to his name like being 2nd Indian to climb the highest Volcano in the world, Mt. Ojos Del Salado. Satyarup is certified mountaineer from Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling.
Siddhant was born in Kolkata and brought up in a small town in West Bengal. Later on, he got a degree in Engineering from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology and started working in Bengaluru in 2005 and has been an active member of mountaineering club since 2008.
During his childhood, Siddhanta could barely run 100 mts without an inhaler. He was determined to overcome this ailment and live a healthy lifestyle. From an asthmatic kid to world-famous mountaineer Satyarup's journey, so far, has been extremely inspiring. Such is his passion for climbing that Satyarup didn't think twice to leave his regular job before making his first attempt to scale the Mt. Everest in 2015. He has already summited the highest mountain peak in the world after he was turned back from Everest by the devastating earthquake in 2015.
To this effect, he conditioned and trained himself for a period of 7 years and was finally able to go for his first trek in 2008 without an inhaler. Since then, he has been a role model for the youth to overcome their fears and live their dreams.
"I am in the final lap of my journey and it feels so great. My dream of becoming the youngest person to scale the Seven Summits and Seven Volcanic Summits is just one step away. It's never an easy task, but I am determined to successfully scale these two summits and bring laurels to my motherland. The good wishes of my fellow countrymen keep motivating me. With these ascends, my aim is to promote adventure sports amongst young Indians," said Satya during an interview.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Satyarup has been awarded the highest state award in the field of mountaineering Radhanath Sikdar Tenzing Norgay Adventure Award 2016 by the State Youth Services Department, Govt of West Bengal. He has also won the Youth Award in the Bangalore Youth Festival at the Kanteerva Stadium.
He was felicitated by the West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR) in Kolkata. He dedicated his Kilimanjaro, 2018 climb to the cause of Child Protection and the award was also given on the child protection day.
ASEAN entrusted Satyarup and his team the mission to take the ASEAN flag, the Indonesia Flag and the India flag to the summit of Mt Carstensz Pyramid as a commemorative climb to mark the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN and 25th anniversary of Dialogue with India. Satyarup gave a talk at the ASEAN headquarters, Jakarta. As a mark of respect, the pictures of the flag giving ceremony is showcased on the walls of Indian High Commission, Indonesia.
He was felicitated by the Governor of West Bengal after he successfully climbed Mount Everest on May 21, 2016.
