The 21-year-old in-form uncapped Indian player, Yashasvi Jaiswal, now broke a 15-year-old record to create a new IPL history. He is the most runs scorer as an uncapped player in an IPL season.
During the inaugural IPL season (2008), then-Australian uncapped cricketer Shaun Marsh scored 616 runs. Till IPL 2022, that record was safe in the list of most runs by an uncapped player in an IPL season.
However, in the IPL 2023, Yashasvi Jaiswal just broke that record in style. The in-form left-handed batter played another crucial innings for his team Rajasthan Royals (RR) during their last league stage game in the ongoing IPL season.
Yashasvi Jaiswal: 625 runs in IPL 2023
During the 66th game of the IPL 2023, Rajasthan Royals beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by four wickets (with two balls to spare) after successfully chasing the 188 runs target. During that successful chasing, while Devdutt Padikkal scored 51 off 30 balls (five fours and three sixes), opener Jaiswal had a brilliant knock of 50 off 36 balls (eight fours).
At the end of that innings, Jaiswal scored 625 runs in 14 innings with an average of 48.08 and a strike rate of 163.61. The second most run-scorer in the IPL 2023 has hit five half-centuries and one century.
