The 23-year-old Indian cricketer Shubman Gill is in great form with the bat. During the Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2023, Gill not only hit an unforgettable match-winning century but also recorded the highest individual score in the history of IPL playoffs or knockout stages.
The five-time IPL trophy winners Mumbai Indians (MI) and defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) faced in the Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2023. GT opener Shubman Gill took full control of the game with a brilliant century.
Shubman Gill: 129 off 60 balls
It was Gill’s third century in the ongoing IPL season as the right-handed opener scored 129 runs in 60 balls with the help of seven fours and ten sixes. His batting helped GT to manage the first innings total of 233/3 (20 overs).
In reply, Suryakumar Yadav (61 off 38 balls) and Tilak Varma (43 off 14 balls) fought bravely, but MI were all out for 171 runs in 18.2 overs. GT won the match by 62 runs to advance to the Final of this competition.

It was the seventh century in the history of IPL playoffs.
Gill records the joint-fastest century in the IPL playoffs history (including all knockout stages). By completing his century in 49 balls, Gill equalled the record for fastest centuries in the IPL playoffs with Wriddhiman Saha (Kings XI Punjab vs Kolkata Knight Riders in Final of IPL 2014) and Rajat Patidar (Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Lucknow SuperGiants in Eliminator of IPL 2022).
With 129 runs in Qualifier 2, Gill also recorded the highest individual score in the IPL playoffs or knockout stages history. The previous record in this list was 122 by Virender Sehwag (Kings XI Punjab) against Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2014.
Also, it was Gill’s third century in his last four T20 innings. He became the second batter to hit three centuries in four T20 innings. The Australian cricketer Michael Klinger was the first to record three centuries in four T20 innings during the T20 Blast 2015.
