Jos Buttler concludes as the 2nd most run-scorer in an IPL season

English cricketer Jos Buttler won the Orange Cap of the IPL 2022 as he had a memorable journey in this tournament despite his team Rajasthan Royals (RR) finishing as the runners-up in this competition. However, Buttler recorded the most runs in an IPL season as a foreigner.

Before the final of the IPL 2022, Buttler was 24 runs behind Australian cricketer David Warner, who was then holding the record for most runs in an IPL season as an overseas cricketer. While the left-handed batter Warner scored 848 runs in IPL 2016, Buttler already scored 824 runs in the IPL 2022 before its final.

IPL 2022: Jos Buttler scored 863 runs

In the final of the 15th edition of the IPL between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals, Buttler scored hard-fought 39 runs in 35 balls with the help of five fours. The right-handed English batter ended this IPL 2022 season with 863 runs in 17 innings (average 57.53 & strike rate 149.05) with the help of four centuries and four half-centuries. However, Gujarat Titans ultimately won the IPL 2022 by seven wickets.  

While Buttler finished as the most run-scorer in an IPL season as an overseas cricketer, he also finished as the second most run-scorer in an IPL season. In IPL 2016, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s then captain Virat Kohli (973 runs) scored 110 runs more than Buttler’s IPL 2022 record.
