Jitesh Sharma was born on 22nd October,1993. He is from Amravati, Maharashtra. He is a right handed batsman and is a wicket-keeper. He was selected in the Vidarbha Ranji trophy squad in 2013-14 season due to his impressive performance in the Cooch Behar Trophy. In that tournament, he scored 537 runs in 12 innings which includes two centuries and a fifty. In the 2015-16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament, he was the third highest run-getter in the tournament. He scored 343 runs with a strike rate of 143.51 which includes one century and two fifties.
He made his first class debut on 1st October, 2015 against Odisha at Nagpur. He scored 553 runs in 23 innings. He is involved in 50 caught behind dismissals and 5 stumpings. He made his List A debut on 27th February,2014 against Rajasthan at Jaipur. He scored 1266 runs in 38 innings. This includes seven fifties and two centuries. He is involved in 43 caught behind dismissals and 6 stumpings. He made his T20 debut on 31st March,2014 against Uttar Pradesh at Nagpur. He scored 1451 runs in 56 innings with a strike rate of 143.52. He is involved in 41 caught behind dismissals and 8 stumpings.
Jitesh said that his career can be compared to the life of a mountain trekker. He said that till 2017, his career reached its peak and everything was going normal and he was on another confidence level because of his performances. Suddenly in that year itself, he lost his touch and failed miserably. He recalled that it did not take him much time for him to fall straight on the ground in his career. His performances were so miserable that he was unable to make his place into the state team. That was the time his struggle started and he kept believing in himself. He never lost his focus and started working on his game. He believed in taking baby steps to get back to his career. After a lot of hard work and patience, he got selected into the team. He felt nervous on the first day of his comeback but he recalled that the moment the ball touched his bat sweetly, all his confidence came back and everything was looking like going back to normal. He recalled his IPL debut as well. His debut was against Chennai Super Kings and he was mesmerized with the fact that he will share the field with Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Suresh Raina and so on , whom he had watched them on television. It was a nervous moment for him but he concentrated on his game . He said that his inspiration for playing cricket is his father. He used to play cricket as well and is a businessman now. He always supported him and encouraged him throughout his career.
This year, Jitesh is playing for the franchise Punjab Kings.
