Almost all the aspects of the IPL are positive but the one negative impacts of the tournament is so big that it has overshadowed Indian cricket and it is not good and the players are impacted the most from this negative impact of the IPL. All the fans know that the biggest Indian cricketers play for different teams in the IPL and all those teams have separate fans and those fans want their players to do well and that is all good but the problem starts later.
Cheering for your favorite stars to do well for your team is all good but the problem comes when those fans want other Indian players who are in the other teams to fail and more so when these players play for India the separate fan clubs want their favorite player to do well for India but they also want the other players who are not their favorites to not do well.
Let’s talk about this problem:
IPL is resulting in fan clubs for different players
Cricket is following the football route and that is not good for Indian cricket because the Indian cricket team is the most important team in the world, more important than all the time IPL teams etc. For example there are fan clubs of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni who want all their favorite players to do well but they wish that the other two flop even when they play for India. It is understandable that in the IPL but to wish this when they are playing for India is not right. These all play for one flag which is The Tiranga and everyone should love all the Indian players.
Social Media has become toxic
This point has been proved in this IPL more than any other in history because not only the fans but certain teams as well as IPL players have made social media toxic. For example Lucknow Supergiants and Naveen Ul Haq have targeted Virat Kohli and it has not been good to see. And the most abhorrent example of that was a few days ago when Shubman Gill hit a brilliant Hundred and he knocked out Virat Kohli and the RCB team and after that the abuse that was directed at Shubman Gill and his sister was truly unfortunate and they should not forget that he is an Indian player who will play in the World Test Championship Final a few weeks later.

The Players need to speak up
As long as the players do not speak up and tell their fans to stop it till then this will keep going on and it will only get worse. After the Lucknow Supergiants vs Virat Kohli episode, Gautam Gambhir could have said nice things about Virat Kohli and cooled down the situation. And Virat Kohli could have told his fans to not abuse Shubman Gill and his family which was very disappointing and there was no fault of the young man. The players need to make their fans realize that the Indian team is the most important and not the IPL.
