Stars were born! This statement can be true for the recently concluded Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies. Many players stamped their authority and impressed with their performances. Even though India won the tournament, there were stars of other countries as well who played tremendously and gave a good account of themselves. Now with the IPL auction coming closer and closer, the focus shifts to that. I am sure that many U19 stars will be sought after. Let’s have a look at 5 players who might be bought in the U19 Auction.
1. Raj Bawa:
One of the stars for India in the World Cup, Bawa had a wonderful run with both bat and ball. All-rounders are always in demand in IPL and considering the performances of Raj, he will definitely be a hot pick. Raj had a wonderful time with the bat, his highest score being 162. But it was in the final where he showed his class with the ball. In a tremendous spell of bowling, Bawa picked up 5 wickets and was the Player of the Match. Who will buy him when the auction comes around? Let us wait and watch.

2. Yash Dhull:
The Indian skipper for the Under-19 World Cup had a brilliant time, with his bat as well as his captaincy. The way he led his team was exceptional and was praised by many experts. Even in the semi-final against Australia, India were in trouble and that is when Yash Dhull came to the fore. He started slowly but once he got himself in, he looked unstoppable. He made a brilliant century. He unfortunately ran out but we witnessed a fine knock. There is no doubt that IPL franchises will be looking at him to join their roster.
3. Dewald Brevis:
Among the Indians, lies a star from South Africa, Dewald Brevis. South Africa have a legend in the making here. In the Under-19 World Cup, Brevis could not have asked for anything better. He scored the most runs by a player in any edition, surpassing Shikhar Dhawan. Dewald earned the Man of the Tournament award as well. Brevis has been shortlisted for the IPL auction and we might just see this sensation break the bank of some franchises.
4. Rajvardhan Hangargekar:
Another star in the making from the Indian Under-19 team. Hangargekar had an important role to play in the World Cup as he used to come to bat down the order and was often required to play the big shots. He more often than not did his job and he looks like the next power-hitter that India need. Hangargekar will be in demand when the auction comes around and it will be interesting to see which team buys him.
5. Dunith Wellalage:
Sri Lankan players are rarely bid for in the auction but this time the case might be different. Dunith Wellalage performed really well for Sri Lanka in the Under-19 World Cup. He was the best performer for them in the World Cup with both bat and ball. Sri Lanka’s future looks in bright hands. His captaincy was good and being an all-rounder certainly gives him an edge over some other under-19 players. We will see what happens.
