Top 5 Steals in Day 1 of the IPL mega auction 2022

The auction is a fascinating affair where there are many dynamics at play and some bids are way over priced and they make no sense when they happen but the players who get paid that amount of money will be extremely happy but not the team but on the flip side there are some buys that are considered steals in the auction meaning that the teams get them for less than what they should have gone for and it wax there today as well.

There were some players in this auction that went for far less than they otherwise would have, the dynamics of the auction are such. So , we will now take a look at the steals of day 1 of this mega auction.

David Warner (6.25 crores):

Easily the steal of the first day of the auction and the price in which Delhi Capitals got their man should not be possible as this player should have gone for a lot more ,maybe double this amount so it’s a master deal for the Delhi team but one wonders what happened to the other teams at the auction table today when he was being bidded , they might have been thinking about something else. Whatever it is ,the Delhi team will be laughing about this deal for a long time to come and David Warner will feel like he lost out on a few extra crores.

Quinton De Kock (6.75 Crores):

QDK going for just 6.75 crores is just astonishing as he is the perfect IPL player and his record is simply outstanding si it is a shock as to why not many teams went aggressively for him but the Lucknow Supergiants would not care one bit as they got their man for such a low price and they saved a lot of money so this is also a steal of day 1 and the other teams must be lamenting as to how they let him go so cheaply.

Pat Cummins (7.25 Crores):

Getting one of the best bowlers in the world and a great leader at such a modest price is a steal by KKR in today’s auction as he took a 50% pay cut from last time but his value is still the same and other than his great bowling, he is also a very handy batter down the order for KKR and can help push the score to a good one. He will also be a great mentor for all the young players who come in the KKR setup so he is a great steal by KKR.

Jason Holder (8.75 Crores):

Everyone must be thinking why is a buy at over 8.5 crores a steal but the reason is he is a 4 in one player as he is a great bowler who can restrict the opposition team and he is a top batter who van hit huge sixes, and he is a gun fielder and on top of that he is a calming influence and a true leader and the Lucknow franchise have done extreme well to get their man at such a modest price as he could have easily fetched 12 crores so it is a steal and they saved money as well.

Mitchell Marsh (6.50 Crores):

Along with David Warner this might be the steal of the day and both the deals were done by the Delhi Capitals which shows that they were very smart with their picks today and to especially get Mitchell Marsh for under 6.50 crores is extraordinary and the skills which he brings to the table is way match more valuable than what they paid so it us a steal and a great buy for DC.
