This IPL is different in a few ways but the main difference is that there will be 10 teams this year and that means more cricketers will get to play the biggest tournament in World cricket and the fans will be more as compared to the previous seasons as the two new teams from Lucknow and Gujarat will add to the already staggering viewership of the IPL. Both these teams have built up very good squads which their fans could be proud of and maybe they can challenge for the title in their first season. It is nice to see more young players from around the world get an opportunity because of the two new teams as well.

First time and young captains

If we leave out Rohit Sharma of the Mumbai Indians and Kane Williamson from Sunrisers Hyderabad then all the other Captains are either first timers or are very young captains and this shows that the league now has grown leaps and bounds that young players from India and experienced players are getting to captain IPL teams for the first time. For example Ravindra Jadeja will be the new captain of CSK now that MS Dhoni has decided to step down. Faf Du Plessis will captain an IPL team for the first time with RCB, Mayank Agarwal will lead the Punjab side for the first time, Hardik Pandya will Captain the Gujarat side in his first ever captaincy stint.

Players with a point to prove

There are players in this IPL who will come into the tournament with a point to prove and they will look to stamp their authority on the IPL very early in the season as well and prove that they still belong at the Top. For example David Warner will be eager to prove that he is an IPL legend and that last season will happen again. Virat Kohli will look to show that he is the best batter in the world yet again. Shreyas Iyer will be eager to show that he is one of the best captains in the IPL and Hardik Pandya will look to show that he is back in full fitness and KL Rahul will look to prove that he is a good captain and can score runs at a quick strike rate. These are some of the names but there are many more like these.

Platform for young players

Like every other year the IPL is the perfect opportunity for the young players from around the world to show that they are among the best in the world and maybe get into their national teams as well. From India, Ravi Bishnoi will look to show that he deserves a consistent run in the Indian team, Shubman Gill will look to show that he is also a T20I player, Washington Sundar will look to show that he is not injury prone as is shown. In the foreign players, Dewald Brevis will look to shine to get the notice of the South African selectors, Tim David will look to smash everyone and get into the Australian team. Odean Smith will look to show that he can be a good all round player.
