Yet another season and Royal Challengers Bangalore likely to end the drought of not having the IPL trophy in their cabinet so far history of the cash rich league. With some big names in the line-up and the most consistent batsman of this era, Virat Kohli still RCB hasn't tasted the success of IPL they deserve. There were moments in the tournament history when RCB was very close to the Trophy but failed to achieve that due to the over dependence on few players.
The team balance is must to win big tournaments as ability wins matches but it's always the team work that makes the team champions. Even in the upcoming season, RCB again don't have potent pace attack to be effective for them as compared to their batting powerhouses. Again it's too much depend on the batsman for the success for RCB ahead of IPL 2021.
Having said, let's take a look at the squad, strengths and weaknesses of RCB.
RCB Squad IPL 2021 –
Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Devdutt Padikkal, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj, Kane Richardson, Washington Sundar, Pavan Deshpande, Joshua Philippe, Shahbaz Ahamad, Navdeep Saini, Adam Zampa, Kyle Jamieson, Glenn Maxwell, Rajat Patidar, Sachin Baby, Mohammed Azharuddeen, Dan Christian, KS Bharat, Suyash Prabhudessai, Daniel Sams, Harshal Patel
Strengths – RCB batting is even more stronger this time around
Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Devdutt Padikkal, Joshua Philippe and Glenn Maxwell. This time around RCB has the more dangerous batting order than ever while in the auction this year, RCB has brought the pinch hitter in the form of Glenn Maxwell to solve the middle order crisis which is going from the last few seasons. In case RCB top order batsmen have failed to perform, Glenn Maxwell has the ability to play any innings according to circumstances.
Even Maxwell can bowl crucial 2-3 overs to contribute as a bowler to support the bowling unit. While the other all-rounders in the form of Daniel Christian and Washington Sundar can be effective too with such big names in the line-up.
Weakness – RCB absurd bowling unit
It's very surprising from the franchise that they don't pick up any quality bowlers in the team. There is no doubt about the batting of RCB but when you look at the bowling column there are no experienced players who can be effective for the franchise.
The fast bowlers RCB having in this year of IPL is complete in experience. The other teams in the league will definitely look to work on this factor against Royal challengers Bangalore to derailed the campaign straight from the start. So it will be interesting to see how Royal challengers Bangalore start their campaign against defending champions Mumbai Indians in the first match of 14th edition of the cash-rich league.
