Kings XI Punjab likely to rename its franchise name to Punjab Kings in IPL 2021

With the auction of the much anticipated T20 tournament Indian Premier League has been less than a week away. One of the franchise of the league history, Kings XI Punjab has been into the spotlight already before the auction who is looking to rename its franchise to Punjab Kings from kings XI Punjab in the coming season of the cash-rich league. The reason behind the change is still not clear but it is official from the franchise owner after the approval from BCCI about the change.

 

The franchise owner of Kings XI Punjab is looking to launch the news officially after the auction ends up in Chennai. Kings XI Punjab has been one of the underdogs in the history of the tournament except for some few good seasons and they are still looking to have the IPL trophy under their feathers.


 

Quarantine rules for the auction

 

The ones who are going to attend the coming auction, BCCI has advised, "Before checking into their respective rooms, they (those arriving on February 17) will undergo a Rapid Antigen Test followed by an RT-PCR test for COVID-19 at the designated sampling kiosk set up in the hotel by the BCCI's accredited testing agency. All individuals must quarantine in their respective rooms until results of the RT-PCR tests are available. Typically the reports will be available within 3-4 hours of sample collection."

 

The ones who will reach the auction on that are advised, All personnel arriving on the 18th February 2021 must quarantine in their respective rooms until results of the RT-PCR test are available. Reports of samples collected before 9 am on 18th February 2021 will be available by 1 pm. Only those individuals who have tested negative for COVID-19 will be permitted to attend the IPL 2021 auctions."

 

A Total of 292 players will go into the auction column which feature 164 Indian players with the value of 200 crore in the auction. Kings XI Punjab will be looking to add more quality players like Steve Smith or Chris Morris into the line-up to strengthen the team unit. While Kings XI Punjab have the amount of 53.20 INR in the auction to spend with the nine available columns, in which five of them are for overseas players.

Released players - Glenn Maxwell, Karun Nair, Hardus Viljoen, Jagadeesha Suchith, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Sheldon Cottrell, Jimmy Neesham, Krishnappa Gowtham, Tajinder Singh.
