Krishnappa Gowtham who hails from Karnataka, surprised everyone. When he was sold 9.25 crore to Chennai Super Kings. Gowtham has also become the most expensive uncapped Indian player in IPL history.

A Street-cricket prodigy and nicknamed Bhajji after his idol Harbhajan Singh, Krishnappa Gowtham is an emerging off-spinner and explosive lower-order batsman.

Gowtham played previously in IPL for Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab.

But this time around, Chennai Super Kings will be considering him to play a bigger role throughout the tournament.

4. Jhye Richardson – Punjab Kings (₹14 crore)

The Australian bowler Jhye Richardson is one of the best bowling assets available for IPL 2021 auction. Richardson also got surprised when he was picked by Punjab Kings for 14 crore. His base price was 1.5 crore. A small man with whippy fast-arm action, Richardson is a right-arm fast bowler who can swing the ball in both directions. This surge in his price is attributed to his performance at BBL - where he took 29 wickets, and became the highest wicket taker in BBL 2020.

3. Glenn Maxwell – Royal Challengers Bangalore (₹14.25 crore)

Glenn Maxwell is always a player which teams are fond of in the T20 era. Due to his weak performances during the IPL 2020 for Kings XI Punjab, he became the hottest bid this season.

In IPL 2021 auction, RCB bought him at a whooping 14.25 crore in a hope that he will blast this IPL T20 season. Although, there is no doubt about Maxwell's abilities as a T20 player. He is still one of the most destructive  batsman when in form and it will be interesting to see how he will team up with the likes of Virat Kohli and AB Devilliers.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the bid here spending the massive 15 crore.

The bowler made his mark in the cricket fraternity when he fetched 6 wickets for 7  in the Super Smash game in 2019. The figures are the best recorded for a New Zealander and the 5th best overall in T20 cricket.

1. Chris Morris – Rajasthan Royals (₹16.25 crore)

Having the base price of 75 lacs, the bid on Chris Morris surprised everyone when he was sold for a huge amount of 16.25 crore. He also became the most expensive buy in the history of IPL.
