The 22-year-old Indian para pistol shooter Manish Narwal claimed the silver medal in the men’s 10m air pistol shooting SH1 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics Games.
In the final round of the men’s 10m air pistol shooting SH1 event, Manish fought against the Republic of Korea’s Jo Jeongdu. While Manish managed a score of 234.9, Jeongdu scored 237.4 to win the gold medal.
Tokyo 2020 Paralympics gold medallist and the world record holder, Chinese Yang Chao, claimed the bronze medal in the men’s 10m air pistol shooting SH1 event with a score of 214.3.
Manish Narwal claimed his second Paralympic medal
Although the silver medallist Manish was doing well in the men’s 10m air pistol shooting SH1 event, he managed to earn 10+ only once in the last six shots, which hurt him. It was his second medal at the Paralympics. Manish won his first Paralympics medal at the Tokyo 2020 with the gold medal in the mixed 50m pistol SH1 event.
Who is Manish Narwal?
Manish Narwal was born on 17 October 2001. He hails from Ballabhgarh, Haryana. His dream of being a footballer like his idol Argentine legend Lionel Messi ended due to a congenital impairment to his right hand. However, his passion for shooting has made him a national inspiration.
In the Indian national championships in 2017 and 2018, Manish participated in the non-Para shooting.
During the Para Shooting World Cup 2021, he claimed a gold medal in the P4 mixed 50m pistol SH1 event by setting a new world record.
Manish also won a gold medal in the SH1 10m air pistol event at the 2023 World Championships in Lima, Peru.
