India secured the top two medals in the women’s 1500m T12/T13 event at the Asian Para Games 2026, as T12 athlete Soumya Kumar won the gold medal with her personal best performance and Radha Venkatesh secured the silver medal.
There were three T12 athletes with guides and two T13 athletes without guides. For the Indians, Bharath Kumar worked as Soumya’s guide, and Govind Solanki served as Radha’s guide. Due to the different categories of participation, the winner was determined through RAZA points rather than the fastest finish.
Although Japanese Mana Sasaki completed the race as the fastest in 5:12.15 minutes, the T13 athlete had the RAZA points of 336. Soumya took 5:!2.39 minutes to complete the race, as her personal best performance set 621 RAZA points to clinch the gold medal. Another Indian Radha was the last finisher (5:30.90) among four completed racers, but the T12 athlete claimed the silver medal with 421 RAZA points.
While the home athlete Mana secured the bronze medal, the fourth-place T13 athlete Zhihan Luo earned 254 RAZA points after finishing the race in 5:20.39 minutes.
Meanwhile, in the women’s 1500m T11 race, Indian Ravanni Valasanaini won a bronze with her personal best finish (5:41.85), and another Indian Rakshita Raju was disqualified.
