Mohun Bagan has embroiled themselves in a rivalry with Mumbai City ever since stepping into the ISL in 2020. The reason is the richly clad ownership change of both clubs almost in the same period which has made them the two wealthiest sides in the ISL. As a result of being high budgetary teams and bringing in quality players and coaches, the two have often crossed paths in the title race be it the Winners Shields or the ISL trophy since. This has been the fixture to look for every time the schedule for the season is out.
The stakes are high in almost all the matches and often have a do-or-die situation in which the winners get the advantage of winning the title that season. Mumbai City FC have got the upper hand in this clash majorly with Mohun Bagan finding only two win so far. The Mariners have managed to score only half of Mumbai City’s goal tally in this fixture and have failed to score in the first two matches. Mumbai has also kept a solid defence by keeping three clean sheets in 10 matches compared to none from the opposition.
