The Indian Women’s League or IWL will enter its seventh edition in the 2023-24 season. The IWL 2023-24 schedule is already out and it is set to begin on 8th Dec, 2023. This time the competition will be played in a proper league fashion stretched over four months. Seven teams will play in the top-flight with clubs playing each other twice on a home and away basis. No longer will the IWL be played in a centralized zone instead it will cover the stretches of the country. The relegation and promotion system will also come into force in the league from this campaign with the second division to launch soon. The teams in the league have finalized their squad ahead of the season.
Defending champions Gokulam Kerala has won the crown in the last three seasons and are eyeing a four-peat with another solid squad at their disposal. Odisha FC have also recruited strongly in the summer including the addition of multiple title winners like Indumathi Kathiresan to end the dominance of the Malabarians. Former winners Sethu FC are a talent-filled outfit with Kajol D'Souza as their main star. Finalists Kickstart FC rely on their strong Indian contingent to repeat their last season’s achievement. East Bengal too brings their lofty ambitions to the table while Sports Odisha and Hops could be in a scrap to avoid the drop.
