FC Goa were leading the table in the first half of the last season under the tutelage of ISL-winning coach Manolo Marquez and looked set to claim a second ISL Shield but injuries to key personnel put a dent in their aspiration. Eventually, the Gaurs finished third with just three points off the top in the league phase and were beaten by Mumbai City in the playoffs.
Disappointment of going trophyless last season, the team has made some notable additions to the squad for an improved showing in the coming campaign despite selling star forward Noah Sadaoui and local boy Brandon Fernandes this summer. Manolo Marquez will also have to share his managerial role with the national team after being appointed as the head coach of the senior men’s team in July.
The former Shield winners will begin the 2024-25 ISL campaign at home welcoming Jamshedpur FC at Fatorda on 17 September 2024. FC Goa will then make back-to-back trips to Kolkata, first facing newly promoted side Mohammedan SC at Kishore Bharati Krirangan and then taking on East Bengal at Salt Lake Stadium. The next big challenge will be facing Mumbai City on 19th October 2024 in a revenge-seeking match of their elimination from the semi-final last term. The end of the league schedule for the year will be tough as they make the trip to Kanteerava to face Bengaluru FC before a home fixture against Shield defenders Mohun Bagan on Friday 20 December 2024.
