The I-League 2023/24 winter transfer window has been busy with only Churchill Brothers and TRAU left to make any moves in January 2024. Understandably, teams that are struggling in the bottom half of the table have gone for a shake-up of their squad. The upper end has gone for upgrading areas that lacked quality or depth in the first half of the season. The winter window will close on 31st January 2024, two days before the I-League restarts following the Asian Cup break.
Leaders Mohammedan SC are seven points clear at the top and look to have strengthened their position with the signing of Evgeniy Kozlov. The 28-year-old winger will be the first Russian player to play in India since 2002. Meanwhile, the Black Panthers let Nikola Stojanović join Gokulam Kerala, who replaced Edu Bedia at the club. The former FC Goa captain spent just four months with the Malabarians since joining them in September 2023 to depart for his homeland Spain.
New corporate entry Inter Kashi has continued to add young prodigies to the rank with the signing of 19-year-old Spaniard Fran Gomez. The UP-based club also made the exciting addition of Cape Verde international Gianni Dos Santos while they have taken defender Sanson Perreira on loan from ISL side FC Goa. The NorthEast clubs have also done important business in the market with Shillong Lajong, Aizawl FC and Neroca FC adding firepower to their ranks. Nepal international Arik Bista has also joined the former.
