After a dominating 16-0 win against Uzbekistan in their tournament opener, India claimed another thrashing 16-1 victory against Singapore in the Pool A game in the men’s field hockey at the Asian Games 2023.

A total of nine Indian players scored goals in the 16-1 victory against Singapore. Captain Harmanpreet Singh (24’, 39’, 40’, 42’) scored four goals, while Mandeep Singh (12’, 30’, 51’) netted thrice. Also, Abhishek (51’, 52’) and Varun Kumar (55’, 55’) scored braces, while Lalit Kumar Upadhyay (16’), Gurjant Singh (22’), Vivek Sagar Prasad (23’), Manpreet Singh (37’) and Shamsher Singh (38’) had once each.
India successfully utilized seven penalty corners in the game. Meanwhile, Zaki Zulkarnain scored the only field goal for Singapore in the 53rd minute.
In the other Pool A matches of the 19th Asian Games, Japan outclassed Uzbekistan by 10-1, while Pakistan claimed a 5-2 win against Bangladesh.
In the Pool B encounters of the 19th Asiad, Malaysia thrashed Oman by 11-1 and South Korea outshined Thailand by 10-0. Meanwhile, the hosts China beat Indonesia by 5-1.
