Race as it happened
The race started and it was Lando Norris who got to the perfect start and was ahead of Max Verstappen. Lewis Hamilton also had a great start and Max had to fight it off. Nico Hulkenberg passed Oscar Piastri for P5 who was trying to attack George Russell. Lando Norris was ahead of Max Verstappen by 5 seconds and by Lap 11, Daniel Ricciardo was the first driver to get into the pits. Lap 12 and it was Alex Albon who switched to the hard tyres. Carlos Sainz was in P18 on Lap 14 and he would have to drive well to get into the points. Alex Albon had to retire from the race as the car began to overheat. It was Lap 18 and Lando Norris was already 13 seconds ahead and it was not looking good for Max Verstappen. Lewis Hamilton pitted and switched to the hard tyres.
Lando Norris was 16 seconds ahead in P1 and Max Verstappen was 12 seconds ahead in P3 from George Russell. It was looking like this would be the Top 3. Oscar Piastri was in P4 followed by Nico Hulkenberg, Fernando Alonso and Charles Leclerc. It was Lap 26 and finally Charles Leclerc got past Fernando Alonso for P6. By Lap 28, Max Verstappen was 25 seconds behind Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri looked good for a podium finish. Max Verstappen pitted and changed to hard tyres and he was behind Charles Leclerc. Lap 37 and finally Charles Leclerc pitted and he was one of the last to do so. The last driver to pit was Oscar Piastri who changed his tyres at Lap 39. Lap 40 and Lando Norris was 20 seconds In P1 and George Russell was 15 seconds behind Max Verstappen for P3.
Charles Leclerc was P7 and Yuki Tsonuda was in P12. Lap 45 and Oscar Piastri was chasing down George Russell for P3 and it was going to be tight. Also on Lap 45, Lando Norris had a scare when he brushed the wall but there was no significant damage. The last few Laps were remaining in the race and it was looking like a dominating Lando Norris win. It was Lap 51 and Charles Leclerc got past Lewis Hamilton for P5. There was a little race for the fastest lap and it was between Lando Norris and Kevin Magnussen of Haas. As the checkered flag was waved it was Lando Norris who won the race and Max Verstappen finished in P2 and Oscar Piastri was P3.
