Miami Grand Prix 2022 Results

A new race was added to the Formula 1 Calendar from 2022 and it was the Miami Grand Prix which is called Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix 2022 and it was held on Sunday 8th May. This race was the 5th race of the current Formula 1 season and it was important for all drivers and constructors as Ferrari wanted to improve upon their great early start whereas RedBull wanted to catch up and the same was the case with Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. We will talk about the race results below.

Before we talk about the results let’s know about the track and the weather of that day. The race track length is a good 5.412 kms which is one I’d the longest all year. There were a total of 57 Laps in this race and the weather was very cloudy with 40% chances of rain during the race so the drivers had to plan accordingly. All the big stars came to watch the race such as Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, David Beckham, Serena Williams who are all GOATS of their sports. Let’s now talk about the results of this race

Qualification

Before the actual race we had the Qualifications to determine the positions in the Grid during the start of the race and the 2 Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were the Two fastest in the qualifying and they secured a 1-2 for Ferrari for the first time since the 2019 Mexican Grand Prix and at 3-4 were the Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. Charles Leclerc got the pole position by driving at a time of 1:28:796.

Race

Now that everything was done all was left was the race to start at 15.30 pm local time and when the race started Max Verstappen got a dream start as he overtook Carlos Sainz in the first turn itself and got himself to 2nd place behind Leclerc and from there on it was Max Verstappen chasing Charles Leclerc for the P1 spot in the race and after 9 Laps of intense racing Max Verstappen was able to overtake Charles Leclerc and he got the pole position in the race and it was great fir all his fans in attendance that day.

The race was going smoothly and Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez were battling for the 3rd podium spot on the race but then during the 41st lap Lando Norris’s rear right tyre made contact with Pierre Gasly’s front left tyre which triggered a virtual safety car which carried on for 5 Laps and ub these 5 laps Charles Leclerc gave lot of pressure to Max Verstappen but the Dutch kept his cool and he won the race and it was one of his most impressive Performances.

On the other side Sergio Perez tried to overtake Carlos Sainz in Lap 52 to get the 3rd place but he made a mistake and got locked up. Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher collided with each other at Lap 53 but no action was taken by the Stewards. Ferrari drivers yet again got double podium as Leclerc and Sainz finished 2nd and 3rs respectively and Sergio Perez had a bad end to his race and he finished 4th and George Russell made the Top 5 of the race. After the race for over Fernando Alonso was given 2 separate 5 second penalties and thus came to an end the first ever Miami Grand Prix which was won by Max Verstappen.
