Hungarian F1 Grand Prix 2022 Results

This was the last Formula 1 Race before the Summer break which all these drivers needed badly and they ended this part of the season with a bang as we saw one of the most dramatic races of the season and the results shocked a lot of people considering what happened in qualifying which we will talk about below. This race was great proof of where the drivers are currently and how good or bad are the team strategies of the various constructions. It had everything and will keep the viewers engaged till the next race happens.

Before we talk about the race it is important to talk about what happened in Qualifying as Max Verstappen was starting at P10 and the first 3 on the starting grid were George Russell for the first time and then Carlos Sainz at P2 and Charlies Leclerc at P3. Keep this in mind as the race happens because fans were not prepared for what came in the race and the weather was not ideal as well with rain threat looming large. So, let’s talk about the race.


Race Results

George Russell takes the starting lead of the race and the 2 Ferrari drivers are in P2 and 3 and Lewis Hamilton jumped to P5 and Max Verstappen was P8 after the start. Lap 2 and the virtual safety car is out as Albon has damage and Kevin Magnussen hit the back of Daniel Ricardo’s car. At Lap 4 Max Verstappen overtakes Fernando Alonso and is now P7. Lap 8 and Max Verstappen is now P6 which is impressive. At Lap 15 Lando Norris gas been overtaken by Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez till now and he has lost his P4 position. It is Lap 23 and Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have all pitted and Max Verstappen is the leader now.

At Lap 31 Charles Leclerc takes the lead of the race after fighting with George Russell for a long time for the spot. At Lap 39 Max Verstappen pots for the second time to get medium set of tyres and he leads both the Mercedes drivers now. At Lap 41, Max Verstappen overtook Charles Leclerc and was in the lead but right then Max spins and Charles Leclerc is back in the lead. Hugh drama in Hungary. At Lap 44 it is Max Verstappen vs Charles Leclerc and Leclerc is struggling on the hard tyres. It is Lap 45 and Max Verstappen is back in the lead of the race and the hard tyres strategy didn’t work for Ferrari. Lap 49 and Lewis Hamilton is in the lead but he has to pit again as per the rules. Lap 52 and Max Verstappen is the leader of the Grand Prix and from P10 he is back in the lead.

At Lap 56 George Russell overtakes Charles Leclerc for P2 and Ferrari pit Leclerc again and he is in 6th place now and this whole strategy was a massive blunder by the Ferrari team. At Lap 63 Lewis Hamilton is in P3 which is very impressive. Lap 65 and Lewis Hamilton is in P2 and both the Mercedes drivers fight hard but Lewis wins. When the race finished it was Max Verstappen who won the race from P10 which shows why he is the leader.
