British Grand Prix 2024 Results

The 2024 British Grand Prix at Silverstone was one for the history books. This was one of the most thrilling races of the year and all the teams were in the reckoning for points. The track was filled with over 120,000 fans at the event. Some of the biggest stars were also there like Emilia Clarke, Gordon Ramsey, Kriti Sanon from India. This was a 52 Lap race. There were three British drivers who were In the running for winning this race.

George Russell was P1 in Qualifying and his teammate Lewis Hamilton was in P2 meaning the Top 2 drivers were British. The race started and it was George Russell who got a good start but Lewis Hamilton was not far behind. Max Verstappen was very good as he raced towards P4 in the first corner. Nico Hulkenberg was In P9 and Charles Leclerc was in P8. Russell and Lewis Hamilton were going ahead of Max Verstappen and rain was forecast In the next 25 minutes. After a few laps, George Russell was 1.7 seconds ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in P3. Daniel Ricciardo got into P14 after overtaking Zhou Guanyu. Lando Norris finally got past Max Verstappen for P3 in the race.


Lap 18 and Lewis Hamilton was the new race leader as rain was looming. Lando Norris first got past George Russell for P2 and then he took the lead of the race as he got past Lewis Hamilton. Oscar Piastri was in P3 in a matter of moments and there were 2 McClaren drivers in the Top 3. By Lap 20, it was a 1-2 for McClaren and Lewis Hamilton was asked to change his tyres. Charles Leclerc decided to pit and as a result he was in P16 from P10. In Lap 25, Carlos Sainz of Ferrari lapped his teammate Charles Leclerc. By Lap 29, Lando Norris was P1 and Lewis Hamilton who was P2 was 3 seconds behind. Lewis Hamilton responded to his team that it was no longer raining. At Lap 34, George Russell was forced to retire from the race due to a water system issue.


It was Lap 37 of the race and Lewis Hamilton was chasing Lando Norris in P1 and he was 2 seconds ahead. Lewis Hamilton pitted for the soft tyres and Lando Norris decided that he would wait a while longer. When Lando Norris pitted it took him 4.5 seconds which was 2 seconds slower than Lewis Hamilton. This allowed Lewis Hamilton to take the lead of the race. It was tough going for Lando Norris from here on. Max Verstappen was on the hard tyres and at Lap 44, he was the fastest lap of the race. As the race went along it was clear that Max Verstappen was going to get past Lando Norris for P2 and it happened. Now there was only 3 seconds between him and Lewis Hamilton. However at the end of Lap 52, Lewis Hamilton had won a race for the first time since Saudi Arabia in 2021. This was his record 9th win at Silverstone which is an all time record. Max Verstappen was in P2 followed by Lando Norris.
