The latest race in the 2022 Formula 1 Race calendar took place last night at Baku in Azerbaijan and it was a thrilling race to say the least and it was all joy fir one set of drivers and constructors and absolute agony for the other ones in the championship. This was only the 5th Race on this track and the fans at Baku came out in large numbers to support their favorite drivers. Formula 1 has become so popular that a race can be held anywhere on the planet and hundreds of thousands of people will come to watch it. We will talk about the Grand Prix results below.
Before we talk about the actual race let’s talk about the Qualifying where yet again it was Charles Leclerc of Ferrari who had the fastest lap of qualifying at 1:41:359 to secure pole position in the race and Sergio Perez was P2 and Max Verstappen was P3 going into the race on Sunday. It was a 51 lap Race and the track length is one I’d the longest in the whole year at 6.003 kms. Let’s get to the results now
Race
The race started at a fast pace as Sergio Perez took the lead over Charles Leclerc in the opening corner itself and Leclerc was playing catch-up. Carlos Sainz had to be taken out of the race and that was the first big blow to Ferrari in this race and this caused a virtual safety car which Leclerc hoped would allow him to catch up to the ATed Bull cars. At lap 15 in the race Max Verstappen took the lead from his Red Bull teammate Perez and from there Max did not look back and he led throughout the race with Sergio Perez at 2nd place. .On the other hand Daniel Ricardo had his luck turned when a virtual safety car was causes by Kevin Magnussen and he took the lead. This allowed Daniel Ricardo to finish a respectable 8th in the race.
The End of the Race
As if Ferrari and Charles Leclerc could not have had a bad day it turned worse when Charles had to himself pull out of the race when his engine gave out which allowed Max Verstappen to finish 1st and get 25 points and Sergio Perez finished second and he also got the fastest lap of the race and George Russell of Mercedes finished 3rd in the end. It was a thrilling race for the fans in Baku and Max Verstappen had a good lead in the drivers championship.

Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc are in a 3 way race for the championship and Max has 150 points and Sergio Perez has 129 points in the championship standings. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari has 116 points and is in 3rd place. It will be interesting to see who gains the advantage in Montreal, Canada in the next Grand Prix.
