The summer transfer window of the 2023/24 Premier League season will open on June 10, 2023.
The transfer window dates for the 2023/24 season have been confirmed for Europe’s top-five leagues. For the Premier League, the transaction will begin next month ahead of the new season starting on August 12 this year. Clubs will be able to recruit new players as well as offload them in this period. Negotiations can still happen two weeks prior to the end of June when players’ contracts run down. Hence, free agent signings could be made from 1st July 2023.
Premier League
The summer transfer window for the Premier League will begin on June 10, 2023, for a two-and-a-half-month period. The summer transfer deadline will be on 1 September 2023. Meanwhile, the business will commence in the winter window from 1st January 2024 and will run for the entire month. It closes on 1 February 2023. A total of $963.1m was spent across the windows this season.
Chelsea combined for most of it after throwing $399.1m on a series of signings for an all-time record. Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez became the high budgetary signing last summer with $107m while Antony’s transfer from Ajax to Manchester United also cost the same. Enzo Fernandez became the fourth most expensive transfer in football history after the Blues splash $129m for him in the January window.
More records are set to be broken in the Premier League with Newcastle United, under the PIF investment fund, expected to dig deep into the market after earning Champions League football. Chelsea will also not shy away from another spending spree of their ambitious board after an awful season. Manchester United will also be in the mix to progress further under Erik ten Hag also expecting new owners by then. As is Liverpool who will go for a rebuild and lure players in despite missing out on the Champions League next season.
Other Leagues
The transfer window dates for the rest of the top-five leagues in Europe will be different than that of the Premier League. The summer windows of La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga begin on 1st July 2023. For Ligue 1, the transfer window starts earlier on June 10, 2023. However, all’s windows close on the transfer deadline day of 1 September 2023. The period of the winter window is the same as the Premier League.
