When the 2022–23 Serie A season was finally finished, Napoli won the championship for the first time since 1989–90, sending their ardent Naples fan base into a frenzy. In reality, many believed they had already won the championship before May 4 since Milan, the defending champions from the previous season, found it difficult to keep up with them and other elite teams like Internazionale and Lazio. While Atalanta and Roma qualified for the Europa League for the upcoming season because of Juventus' points deduction, which caused them to finish in seventh place, those four teams made up the UCL qualifying slots. Even if they didn't finish first, each player on the list had a fantastic season for his club, therefore it would be dishonest to ignore that.
GK - Ivan Provedel
Ivan Provedel has been by far the greatest goalkeeper in the current season, with 20 clean sheets in 36 games, despite the fact that there are a few other outstanding goalkeepers in Serie A. With just 28 goals allowed (the second-lowest number in Serie A after Napoli), Lazio has improved their defense and moved up to second place in the standings. With Onana, Alex Meret, and Szczesny, to mention a few, among the league's top goalies, the Italian goalkeeper has the greatest save percentage (77.2%).
RB - Carlos Augusto
Due to his six goals and five assists at Monza, left-back Augusto was a significant goal danger the whole season. He had the most goal involvement of any defender in 2022–23 (11). He tied Stefan Posch for the most goals scored by a Serie A defender in 2022–23, and his eight goals were the most by a defender for a newly promoted Serie A team since Maurizio Domizzi for Napoli in 2007–08.
LB - Theo Hernandez
The former Real Madrid defender seemed to have settled nicely and maintained his performance from the previous year. With his squad helping to score seven goals overall, he appeared to be contributing more to the attack and going on offense. Theo Hernandez has played 30 games as a defender for Serie A in 2022–2023, giving up 28 goals while recording 10 shutouts.
CB - Kim Min Jae
South Korean center defender Kim Min-jae, one of the major success stories of the 2022–23 Serie A season, is included in our TOTS defense alongside colleague Di Lorenzo. Physically commanding at 6-foot-3 and with a strong build, he joined Naples from Turkish club Fenerbahçe in the summer without much fanfare only to win over the locals by the conclusion of the title-winning campaign. And he was tough to defeat. Kim watched opponents dribble past him the least amount of defenders with at least 35 appearances in the major five European Leagues in 2022–2023 (five times).
CB - Danilo
This season, Danilo has been one of the top five defenders in Serie A. producing frequently for Juventus during a season marred by controversy and point deductions. Danilo has assumed a leadership position in the team and contributed significantly to their recent successes in Europe. Danilo took on a more major role with this club both on and off the field as a result of injuries that have hampered the Bianconeri this season, notably those to captain Leonardo Bonucci.
CM - Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, a Serbian international, was essential to Lazio's second-place Serie A finish this season. Together with striker Ciro Immobile, he led the squad with 17 goals contributed, and his nine goals and eight assists allowed him to cross the 100-goal milestone for his Serie A career. Only Josip Ilii (107) and Papu Gómez (103) have contributed to more goals overall since Milinkovic-Savic's Serie A debut than Milinkovic-Savic (102).
CM - Lorenzo Pellegrini
Roma's roster for the 2022–23 Serie A season includes an important member who captained the José Mourinho team that won the Europa Conference League the previous season. The Italian national team's number "10" is a dominant player in the middle of the field. Although he is a fantastic creator, this season he has played close to the center defenders, cutting passes with ferocious grit. They have created a very dangerous midfield with Paulo Dybala.
CM - Stanislav Lobotka
At Serie A winners Napoli, Stanislav Lobotka is a crucial piece in the efficient midfield machine. He is the beating heart of the Napoli team, completing 2,116 more open play passes than any other midfielder and receiving 1,790 more than any other.
RW - Mattia Zaccagni
In 2022, Mattia Zaccagni relocated from Verona to Lazio. The 27-year-old, who was a reliable role player for Verona, has suddenly emerged as one of the greatest stars in Serie A. He is still in his prime. Zaccagni has eleven goals and six assists in a more offensive role as a left winger than a two-way midfielder.
LW - Victor Osimhen
In Europe, Victor Osimhen is becoming well-known. The 24-year-old has finally made a significant impact following a high-profile transfer from Lille to Napoli in 2020. His 23 league goals have helped Napoli win the league title after 33 years. The Nigerian's ball intelligence is astounding, and he humiliates so many defenders with his ability to anticipate the ideal moment to unleash a move.
Striker - Lautaro Martinez
Lautaro Martnez, a forward for Inter, finished the season with 21 league goals, one goal fewer than Napoli's Victor Osimhen. Just ahead of Gerard Deulofeu of Udinese, his attacking output of 5.9 non-penalty shots and open play opportunities generated was the most in Serie A during 2022–2023.
