It has already been more than 4 seasons that Pogba has signed for Manchester United, but it still feels just like yesterday. He signed for what remains United’s highest fee paid during a transfer at nearly 90m euros. Pogba has endured a mixed stay at Old Trafford with inconsistency being the majority of it and off-field drama featuring heavily throughout his stay. Pogba hasn’t been able to perform what was expected of him and remains a shadow of his time in Juventus. With rumours persisting every transfer window, linking the midfielder with a move away from the club we take a look at whether or not Pogba’s time at the Theatre of Dreams could come to an end.

Pogba, previously a United player, was welcomed back to the squad after 4 years, when his contract wasn’t renewed back in 2012, resulting in Juventus signing him. Pogba was undoubtedly one of the best midfielders of World when United splashed Millions, who could have easily been there throughout if they had seen his potential. Images of Stormzy dabbing and #POGBACK slogans all over social media still linger in the memory of most United fans. A signing on Jose Mourinho and Ibrahimovic had already aroused interest in the dormant fans and Pogba was undoubtedly the cherry on the cake, but unfortunately, none of them materialized.

Now, don’t get me wrong, Pogba played massive parts in the Europa League win and United’s 2nd position finish, but it’s Pogba and 90 million, we are talking about. A lot more was expected. Pogba was pretty much inconsistent when it came to playing week in, week out and critics, pundits started pointing out his social media antics to be the main reason for his downfall. Ultimately this resulted in a cold war between Mourinho and the Frenchman.

With ‘The Special One’ getting the brunt of it, it showed how the times had changed since Sir Alex Ferguson left the throne. The history of United shows how players who stood apart from the line had to leave the team in no time with David Beckham, Ruud Van Nistelrooy among the prime examples.

With Ole at the Wheel, there were some basic improvements with the team going back to the same form after March 2019 and Pogba portraying the same inconsistency. In the present scenario, it’s fair to say that Pogba wants a move away from United in no time and United should as a whole keep their options open for him, even if he brings close to the amount, United paid for him. Last but not the least, he wasn’t a flop but seriously not the type United expected.
