Previously, Renard managed Morocco in the FIFA World Cup 2018 and Saudi Arabia in the FIFA World Cup 2022. In the 2018 edition, Renard’s Morocco drew once and lost twice in the group stage exit. Though Renard’s Saudi Arabia also suffered a group-stage exit in the FIFA World Cup 2022, they started the tournament with a stunning 2-1 victory against Argentina.
