Leicester City suffered relegation heartbreak from the Premier League last season after years of wonders in the first division including their fairy-tale success of winning it in 2015-16. After tasting European football several times and also lifting the FA Cup title, the Foxes drifted away and failed to hold their top-flight status on the final day of the 2022-23 season. They will now move back to where they belong playing in the Championship next season.
The first campaign in the second division in eight years opens with a derby against Coventry City. The Sky Blues reached the promotion playoff final last time so will not be an easy opponent to begin with even at home, the King Power Stadium. The reverse fixture is on January 2024. The Foxes will also face fellow relegated side in Southampton on 16th September 2023 and Leeds United two months later. They will end the season with a home game against Blackburn Rovers on 4th May 2024 hoping to make it into the top six at least a playoff spot by then.
