Lamine Yamal

In a recent impressive 10-minute appearance against Real Betis, Lamine Yamal made history by becoming Barcelona's youngest-ever La Liga player.  The 15-year-old joined the Blaugrana in the 83rd minute of Barcelona's 4-0 hammering of Betis to make his much-anticipated league debut. In a spirited performance, Yamal touched the ball 12 times and attempted a goal. A week after being originally included in Xavi's matchday squad, he was introduced. He had played against guys four years older than him since he had been selected to represent Spain at the under-19 level.

Barcelona is now in terrible financial problems and has been advised to cut their debt by millions if they want to compete in La Liga next season, but they can look ahead to the future with talents like Yamal coming through the junior program.

Here’s all you need to know about Lamine Yamal:

FC Barcelona career:

Lamine Yamal, who was born in Mataro, Spain, to an Equatorial Guinean mother and a Moroccan father, spent most of his formative years in Barcelona. Lamine Yamal advanced through the La Masia young ranks and was soon considered one of the academy's top talents.

Lamine Yamal was chosen by Xavi to practice with the first squad in early September 2022 along with other young players despite being added to the Juvenil A team for the 2022–23 season—a team that was already above his age grade. He hadn't yet signed his first professional contract with the club, but he seemed to have impressed the Catalan coach the most of all the youth players.

In a 4-0 victory over Real Betis in La Liga on April 29, 2023, he made his first-team debut, replacing Gavi in the 83rd minute. At 15 years, 9 months, and 16 days old, he was the youngest player to ever play for Barcelona's main squad.

International Career:

Spain's young international is named Lamine Yamal. He participated in 4 games and scored 1 goal for Spain's under-16 team in 2021. He also participated in 2022 with the Spanish under-15 team.

Current contract and teams interested in transfer:

The current Barca under-19 contract that Yamal is under runs through June 30, 2024. Yamal has already made an impression in matches for the UEFA Youth League against Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, who have undoubtedly taken notice of his talent.

Chelsea is now in negotiations with Gavi, while Paris Saint-Germain already recruited Xavi Simons from the Barça academy. Given Todd Boehly's "Vision 2030," both clubs would be happy to get additional players from the same source.
