Jamaica are appearing for a third Copa America since their debut in 2016. The Reggae Boyz wish to add more than just numbers in the tournament this time after exiting from the group stages on the previous two occasions. The task will not be so straightforward with CONCACAF heavyweights Mexico and two tricky South American nations, Ecuador and Venezuela in the group. Apart from losing to the USA, Jamaica has remained unbeaten in five games this year including four wins. The promising form of Heimir Hallgrímsson’s side will give them confidence in the tournament.

Jamaica are counting on their Premier League stars to showcase their class in the tournament. The defence will be marshaled by Ethan Pinnock who has become a household name at Brentford and tops the chart in the league in clearances per game. The focus will be more on the attack with West Ham’s Michail Antonio spearheading it. However, Leon Bailey has withdrawn from the final list which is a big miss for the team. Nine more players in the squad are selected from the different tiers of English football leagues.

Prediction
Jamaica will face strong opposition from South American sides, Ecuador and Venezuela in Group B for the top two spots even if they somehow beat Mexico. Ecuador played the last World Cup with possibly the golden generation in their history while Venezuela are doing their fairytale in the qualifiers this time. All teams are ranked above them in the group so Jamaica might miss out on the knockouts again.
