After losing their title defence to Real Madrid last season by finishing 10 points behind them in second, FC Barcelona will hope to mount a strong battle for supremacy in the upcoming campaign under new manager Hansi Flick. Acquiring Euro 2024 star and former youth player Dani Olmo from Leipzig is a signing of intent by the Catalan giants who bid goodbye to their veteran Sergi Roberto after 16 years of service.
They begin the 2024/25 campaign with an away trip to Valencia on 18 August 2024.
Barcelona will continue to play their home matches at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys until 15 December 2024. After that, the team is expected to return to Camp Nou, still under renovation. The first big challenge for Flick’s side will be taking on surprise package Girona in September who beat them twice shockingly in the previous season. October will provide a busy period with the defending champions and rivals Real Madrid to face at Santiago Bernabeu in the first El Clasico of the season after facing Sevilla at home. The first Catalan derby after a year of absence against Espanyol falls right after. The team also curtains down the year with a high-voltage affair against Atletico Madrid on 22 December 2024.
