Zlatko Dalic announced a 22-man squad list for Croatia set to compete in the Nations League finals this month.
The third-best side at the FIFA World Cup last year now dreams of finally winning silverware to reward their impressive era under Zlatko Dalic.
Croatia will fight Nations League finals hosts Netherlands in the last four of the competition at De Kuip in Rotterdam next week.
If they get past the Oranje Shirts, Spain or Italy will be their last hurdle in the final scheduled on 18th June 2023.
Performance in the Group Stages
Teams | Pld | W | D | L | GF | GA | GD | PTS |
Croatia | 6 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 8 | 6 | 2 | 13 |
Denmark | 6 | 4 | 0 | 2 | 9 | 5 | 4 | 12 |
France | 6 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 5 | 7 | -2 | 5 |
Austria | 6 | 1 | 1 | 4 | 6 | 10 | -4 | 4 |
There was an intense battle with Denmark for the top spot in their Nations League group which Croatia ultimately won by just a point. Defeating Austria 3-1 in the final group game was enough with the favorites France enduring a miserable campaign by finishing second-last in the standings. Croatia won the double over Les Bleus and the Danes and will call it a success con losing their first game of the tournament 3-0 to the Austrians.
The Euro 2024 Qualifiers in March started their proceedings in 2023. In the first match, the Checkered Ones drew 1-1 with Wales even after leading the game for almost the entirety of the match. The visitors snatched the point with a stoppage-time equalizer from Nathan Broadhead after Andrej Kramaric gave the lead just before the half-hour mark. Dalic’s side did not repeat the mistake in the next game by taking their chances in the 2-0 win at Turkey.
