Belgium boss Domenico Tedesco set up a 24-men final squad for the Euro 2024 qualifier games in June.

The Red Devils have begun on a decent note under the former Leipzig manager and are expected to continue the trend in the upcoming matches against Austria and Estonia. The squad is also pretty much the same from March and most of the players are carrying fine form from the recently concluded club football season.

Sweden 0-3 Belgium - Friends Arena, Stockholm (25 March 2023)

 

Belgium started their Euro 2024 qualifiers with an emphatic 3-0 win over Sweden away. Romelu Lukaku showed his composure in national colors by scoring a splendid hat trick in the victory. His scoring tale did not end there as he went on to net again in the 3-2 thrilling win over competition hosts Germany in an international friendly. Lukaku scored the second goal for Belgium three minutes after Yannick Carrasco gave the lead inside six minutes. Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne scored the other goal which turn out to be the winner.

Forwards:  Romelu Lukaku (Inter), Michy Batshuayi (Fenerbache), Jeremy Doku (Stade Rennes), Lois Openda (RC Lens) and Dodi Lukebakio (Hertha Berlin)

Ameen Al-Dakhil, Arnaud Bodart, Olivier Deman and Mike Tresor are four newcomers to the squad waiting to make their national team debut in the June qualifiers. Tresor was named Belgium Footballer of the Year as well. Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard is ruled out after going through a minor surgery having struggled with groin problems towards the end of the Premier League season. Midfielder Amadou Onana is also struggling with an injury while Charles De Ketelaere and Romeo Lavia is not considered. Hans Vanaken and Michy Batshuayi are called back to the squad having missed the games in March international window.    


Belgium Fixtures Euro 2024 Qualifiers


Belgium vs Austria - King Baudouin Stadium, Brussels (18th June 2023)

Belgium will face the group leaders Austria in only the second match of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Das Team since 1978 having lost nine consecutive friendly games prior to the year. Although, they have won only twice in this fixture and this is the first faceoff since 2011.    


Estonia vs Belgium - Lillekula Stadium, Tallinn (21st June 2023)

Belgium also fought Estonia during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers and won both encounters. The last six encounters between the sides came in that tournament only while the last Euro qualifiers meeting came in 2003. Tedesco’s men have lost just once against Estonia in history.
