Aston Villa enjoyed a remarkable season under Unai Emery since taking charge last October as he took them to Europe at that time when the club were in relegation fight. The Villians will play in the UEFA Conference League after finishing seventh in the Premier League table ahead of Tottenham Hotspurs. They have now started preparation for the new campaign in full swing with the manager’s ex-colleague Monchi appointed as the Sporting Director as well.
Villa wants to take a step ahead in the project they are building in the 2023/24 season. A campaign which promises to be huge for them as they handle their European conquest as well. Emery’s side will face a tough season opener against Newcastle United on 12 August 2023. Their next big test come against Liverpool at the beginning of September before facing Chelsea and then Brighton in the same month.
Unlike the so-called top six clubs, Villa have an easy run in 2023 with only champions Manchester City and last season’s runners-up Arsenal in back-to-back mammoth clashes in December a cause for concern. Aston Villa also have an unwanted ending to their season with Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea all to face in April with Liverpool in the penultimate game just like last season. The team will also be in the hunt for the Conference League title making it a Premier League season like no other for them.
