Over the years, the Milan derby also known as Derby della Madonnina has seen legends all over the field. In recent years, the star names seemed to have faded the contest but we can never forget the era when the San Siro would be swamped with legends all over the pitch.
The history between the two clubs and the hostility among the supporters has brought the best out of the players and players have turned to legends just by performing in the Milan Derby.
We take a look at the 4 Legends who have represented both AC Milan and Inter Milan:
1. Andrea Pirlo:
Inter Milan sold Pirlo in 2001 and have regretted the decision ever since. Winning the World Cup with Italy in 2006 and playing a game of FIFA in the afternoon sums up the player. He enjoyed his best years at AC Milan wherein he functioned as a deep lying playmaker. Subsequently he moved to Juventus wherein he was a vital cog in their Serie A winning sides. He is currently managing the Old Lady and looking to make his name in the game as a manager

2. Ronaldo:
The Brazilian No. 9 played for Inter Milan for five years but injuries took a toll on his career which declined his speed. Won the World Cup with Brazil and cemented his name as one of the best strikers in the history of the game. During the twilight of his career he spent a couple of seasons at AC Milan but injuries once again derailed his career at Milan.
However, both the Milan sides were quite fortunate to witness the Brazilian Phenomenon.
3. Zlatan Ibrahimovic:
The enigmatic Swedish striker played some of his best football at both the Milan clubs. He made a name for himself at Inter Milan as one of the most fearsome strikers in the game and subsequently brought a move to Barcelona. The move to Barcelona didn’t quite prove to be fruitful and Zlatan moved to AC Milan. With spells at PSG and in the MLS, he is back at AC Milan and still going strong at the ripe age of 39!
4. Patrick Vieira:
Before moving to Arsenal, Patrick Vieira was considered surplus to requirements at AC Milan. Under the tutelage of fellow Frenchman, Arsene Wenger, he cemented his place as one of the best box to box midfielders in Europe. He left Arsenal for Juventus in 2005 but after the match fixing scandal surrounding the Bianconeri he sealed a move to Inter Milan in 2006. Spent 4 seasons at Inter Milan as a defensive minded midfielder and wound up his playing career at Manchester City.
