Previous Result in the tournament :
India national team's dream to be in the quarterfinals of the Asian Cup took a jolt after a frustrating 0-0 draw over competition debutants Iran. Goalkeeper Zohreh Koudaei stood out with her match-winning save by denying substitute Dangmei Grace's header from point-blank range. That was one of the several other misses India left to rue in the contest. The hosts were taken aback by Iran's pressing football in the first twenty minutes of the game as their forward Negin Zandi continued to trouble the backline and ever her effort in the second half caused a goal-line clearance. The Blue Tigresses felt the need of Sangita Basfore to circulate the ball in midfield and their prolific scorer Bala Devi to capitalise on the chances created, both of them not involved in the tournament. While Manisha Kalyan did her best to impress, the frontline looked disfigured and only caught the mood when Grace came on. Overall, it was a disappointing result in a game where India were the predicted winner.
The good thing for India was that they at least got a point and thrived in the second half of the opening day fixture unlike their next opponents of the tournament, Chinese Taipei. The team from Taiwan were slammed 4-0 by eight times Asian Cup winners, China in the opening game of the 2022 edition. Two-time champions themselves, Taipei failed to prevent their opposition's intricate passing and movements as China easily penetrated the low block defense. The Steel Roses went 2-0 up within 10 minutes of the game in a stunning fashion. 26-year-old star Shuang Wang converted her penalty before captain Shanshan glancing header hit the post and went in. Taipei decided to press China next with the minimum outcome as the Redshirts decided to conserve energy rather than going for more in the first half. The picture remained the same after the restart with Shang laying the pass for Zhang to score and adding to her tally later.

India vs Chinese Taipei Match Preview
The two clashes at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday in the wish to get their first win of the tournament to stand a chance to be in the conversation of the last eight. India's task was cut out in the first game
against Iran, the country from West Asia proving to be a different mantle altogether. Three points in that fixture would have put Thomas Dennerby's girls within touching distance of the quarterfinals knowing a point from the next fixture deemed to be enough for escaping the group stages. The coach himself set the target to be amongst the eight teams in his pre-match conference. So it was difficult to take. Also considering the fact Chinese Taipei and China are two of the most difficult competitors in Group A. India's aim will be to at least pip Chinese Taipei to the second spot with China possibly getting the first place, they play Iran next. But they had made life difficult for themselves as Chinese Taipei won't be a straightforward counterpart to face.
This can turn out to be the wrong time to face the team nicknamed 'Mulan'. Chinese Taipei are looking for a reaction after their 4-0 hammering in the hands of China and are poised to unleash their flair to prevent another downfall. They are unlikely to leave any ground for India to thrive on. Ranked 39th in FIFA rankings compared to India's 55th in women's football ranking, Chinese Taipei will be more adventurous than before after only limiting themselves to guard their defense against China. Although, this can favor India considering they are good at counter-attacking with the ball rather than having it. That being said, the Blue Shirts have to win back the ball or duels on the flanks as well as in the mark to have a say in the game. The negative strategy used by Chinese Taipei in their first game said nothing about their progressive play so this is presumed to be a completely different ball game for India, a match they have to win.
India vs Chinese Taipei Head to Head
India won the last meeting against Chinese Taipei 1-0 in a friendly last year. Forward Renu came up with the goods for the Blue Tigresses that day. The previous competitive game they played against each other was back in 2013 AFC Women's Cup qualifiers. India were on the losing end of a 2-1 scoreline that time.

Right back for Chinese Taipei, Pan Yen Hsin was substituted for precautionary measure due to an injury suffered earlier but she is expected to be back in the starting lineup. While for India, Dangmei Grace should start instead of Sandhiya Ranganathan on the right-wing after her powerful impact off the bench. Apart from that, both teams will remain unchanged from their first game.
