RoundGlass Punjab failed to impose themselves against the ISL sides in the Super Cup this season losing to Bengaluru FC 2-0 in the second group stage game to miss out on the competition's semifinals. This result comes after the I-League winners lost 3-1 to Kerala Blasters in the opening match. For a side that endured a sensational campaign in the I-League and will battle the best in the ISL next season, the Super Cup showings were disappointing. Punjab FC will now look to prevent fellow side Sreenidi Deccan, whom they had a close battle with for the I-League title, from topping the group by registering their first win of the tournament in the final group stage game. Yet, the Deccan Warriors proved their calibre in stopping Bengaluru FC in the 1-1 draw and then beating Blasters 2-0 in the second group stage game. Rilwan Hassan and David Castaneda with a stunning volley secured a memorable win. They are now the side most likely to move to the last four of the tournament. All Sreenidi have to do is pick up three more points in the final group stage game and their destiny will be secured. Facing RoundGlass Punjab will serve as a motivating factor to remind them they are a capable side that could have secured the promotion to the ISL by winning the I-League this past season.
