LEI vs CHL Match Preview
Leicester City
After winning back-to-back games at the start of the last month, Leicester City have suffered another winless period in the Premier League and also exited from the last 16 round of the FA Cup with a surprise 2-1 loss to Championship side Blackburn Rovers. The Foxes once again had a shock result only last weekend going down 1-0 against 19th-placed Southampton, climbing from the bottom with the win, despite keeping the most possession in the game. Argentinian attacking midfielder Carlos Alcaraz scored the only goal of the game in the 35th minute with the away side squandering chance after chance to score.
Brendan Rodgers’s side have failed to score in any of their last three Premier League games or even produce a shot on target after the 2-4 and 4-1 victory over Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspurs respectively, becoming the first side in the Premier League ever to do so. They also conceded five in that period and haven’t kept a single clean sheet after the World Cup break. Leicester faces Chelsea next with the recent set of results for the Blues surely worrying the manager. Rodgers have lost 15 games this season managing the Foxes and could reach a personal low of 16 if the side’s slump continues this weekend.
Chelsea
All the pressure on his job seems to have evaporated now as manager Graham Potter guided Chelsea to back-to-back wins, with the midweek victory over Borussia Dortmund at Stamford Bridge to make it to the quarterfinals of the Champions League uplifting the mood. Raheem Sterling and then Kai Havertz from the penalty spot gave the Blues a sublime win by overcoming a 1-0 first-leg deficit and at the same time saved Potter from suffering any further disappointments. This could also be the game that will swing the pendulum to Chelsea’s favour for the remainder of the season.
Going five-game winless and with only one win in 2023 prior to the victory against Leeds risked the Blues dropping out of even the top ten in the Premier League table but they managed to build some momentum at the right time. Although 11 points still separate them from top four, Chelsea have started producing results at last with the goals also flowing in and registering clean sheets as well. The Blues can only hope the positive results stretch for a long time in putting an end to their current 10-game winless run in away games in the league as they travel to King Power Stadium.

Leicester City
Leicester City were dealt with a massive injury blow in the defeat to Southampton as Harvey Barnes was withdrawn at half-time with a twisted ankle. It has not been reported as serious but the winger seemingly will not feature in the clash. James Justin, Youri Tielemans and Victor Kristiansen are the injury absentees as well while Ryan Bertrand and Jonny Evans remain doubts.
Chelsea
Chelsea continues to be without Thiago Silva, Armando Broja and Edouard Mendy while N'Golo Kante and Mason Mount’s injury situation is being assessed. Cesar Azpilicueta could be given more time to recover from his head injury suffered last month.
