HFC vs BFC Match Preview
Bottom-placed Hyderabad FC earned their first point of the season when they rescued a late 1-1 draw against Mumbai City in Mumbai. Joe Knowles’s cross deflected off Tiri and went into the net for the leveller to cut off the Islanders’s lead coming in the same fashion through Manoj Muhammed’s own goal. Thangboi’s Singto side put up a magnificent defensive show to get a point of the Shield holders in a difficult trip. It was a welcoming result after three straight losses to begin the season. The Nizams will be desperate now to see the phase of victory in their second home game of the season against Bengaluru FC who are struggling in away matches. While they lost to Chennaiyin FC in the last match at Gachibowli, not losing a single meeting against the Blues at this venue will certainly give them a boost. Hyderabad FC feels they are good enough to sit bottom of the standings so want to get away from there as quickly as possible.
All of this is not good news for Bengaluru FC who lost again on the road this time losing a two-goal lead at Odisha to lose 3-2. Simon Grayson’s side started emphatically going up 2-0 inside 18 minutes with goals from captain Sunil Chhetri and Ryan Williams. But then their shaky defence led to their downfall with Odisha FC managing to level up before half-time and then finding the winner in the second half. Roshan Singh also received a second booking and had to leave the pitch midway into the game for the second time this season. It added more frustration for the Blues who have now to deal with the absence of a key defender once again. With the result, Bengaluru FC sits 10th in the standings with just four points collected from five games and failing to secure even a point in away games. They surely will not want to make it worse in their trip to Hyderabad with another grim record to handle.
