We come to gameweek 3 of the Premier League. As expected, a heavyweight like Liverpool is undefeated while Man City and DeBruyne had a phenomenal start. Leeds had quite a hectic match and barely scraped by with a win. Crystal Palace pulled the upset of the week with a 3-1 win against Manchester United, a side that performed exceedingly well towards the embers of the previous season.
With all these developments taken into consideration, here’s the top 5 Fantasy Premier League picks for GW 5:
#1. James Rodriguez( MID; Everton)
He is doing very well these past few weeks at his new club. He scored 12 points in his last match and was praised heavily in the first game. Everton has a great bit of momentum going and if he chooses to perform so well in the games to come, Rodriguez might turn out to be one of the best FPL buys of the season. Currently he is going for 7.6.
#2. Dominic Calvert-Lewin (FWD; Everton)
In just 2 weeks’ time Calvert-Lewin has amassed 25 points. He is one of the highest scoring players in the league. He has performed and scored above 5 points in both matches. They are currently up against Crystal Palace and despite the recent win against Man United, the choice is still Everton given how good the recent performance has been.
#3. Hélder Wander Sousa de Azevedo e Costa (MID; Leeds)
Leeds has had quite the goal barrage since entering the PL this season. Costa is a steal at 5.6 as he has had goal contributions in both games so far, scoring a massive tally of 14 points in the previous game. Leeds is up against Sheffield who is yet to register a W. Given the recent form, Leeds is a good pick to win and Costa is a good pick to contribute to that win.
#4. Jack Grealish (MID; Aston Villa)
Aston Villa is up against the struggling Fulham. Jack Grealish managed to distinguish himself in the best of ways with AVL last season, especially in the FPL. He could do the same this season and start it all by racking up decent points against Fulham. He’s had one game so far and only scored 3 points but given his performance last season and how early it is, it’s likely that he’s bound to rack up heft match tallies. He goes for 7.0.
#5. Raul Jimenez (FWD; Wolves)
Jimenez was one of the best FPL players last season and he seems to follow that trend this season as well. He’s fairly cheap at 8.5 and has scored in both matches so far. One of the critical observations is that one of those was a loss against Man City proving that he can still fetch points in a loss. He was one of the best goal scorers of last season and that can easily follow. Wolves is also playing against West Ham, a team that is yet to win a game.
